Heat Pumps

You Have A Choice..!

Choosing the right sort of Heat Pump to suit your particular heating requirements should be one of your first priorities. We can help you with choosing the right product to suit your particular energy requirements, our aim is to reduce YOUR energy bills. We specialise in the design, installation and service of a range of Heat Pumps, to suit different applications and budgets. We pride ourselves on offering a no-nonsense approach and we only tell it how it is. Often we hear from people who have received advice from other companies who only supply GSHP’s, or one particular manufacture of product and therefore other, often more suitable alternatives, have not been looked at or considered.

We offer a range of products from a choice of manufacturers. There are two main types of Heat Pump that can be used to heat or cool a property, energy efficiently – Ground Source and Air Source. At Solar 7 we specialise in both, as well as combining Solar Thermal with Heat Pumps to maximize the energy efficiency. Although you may not know it, you probably already have a heat pump in your house or place of work - fridges and air conditioners are two examples where heat pumps can be found.

The Bennefits

Ground Source and Air Source Heat Pumps offer similar benefits for heating. Both extract heat from the earths natural resources and therefore place less reliance on conventional fossil fuels, thus reducing energy bills and carbon emissions. Since they run on electricity neither requires the use, or storage of external fuel, such as oil or gas and there is no requirement for a mains gas connection. Air source heat pumps do not require buried underground pipes / coils and as such require less space and are more straightforward and cheaper to install, which often makes them more suitable for the average property. However they are less efficient than Ground Source Heat Pumps and as such people with adequate land available for a ground loop should consider a Ground Source Heat Pump for maximum energy efficiency.

There is much to consider when it comes to correctly sizing, designing and installing a Heat Pump system. In the UK the technology is relatively new, and as a result you may read conflicting information - we only provide information that is based on facts that have come from real experts. For further details regarding Ground Source and Air Source Heat Pumps, please take a look at the sub pages, were you will find more specific information regarding issues such as underfloor heating, insulation, power supplies, etc.;
